Most Instagrammable Places in Puerto Rico in 2022

The beaches of Puerto Rico should not be overlooked! All of Puerto Rico's beaches, as you can imagine, are excellent candidates for photos, but I've listed a few of my favorites below. Isla Verde in Carolina, the undiscovered Wishing Wells in Aguadilla, Sandy Beach in Rincon, Crash Boat Beach in Rincon, and Flamenco Beach are some of the photogenic Puerto Rico beaches (Culebra Island). Each of these communities has a lot to offer nearby in addition to these beaches being incredibly Instagrammable.

There is so much natural beauty in Puerto Rico! Puerto Rico has a plethora of Instagrammable locations, like Old San Juan’s vibrant streets, the El Yunque Waterfalls, and the Cabo Rojo Salt Flats. Here are some of Puerto Rico’s best locations for taking pictures and experiencing!

Extraordinary Falls at El Yunque National Forest Puerto Rico

In just 4 days, we were able to travel to all of these photo places in Puerto Rico. If I had more time, I’d suggest driving all across Puerto Rico to visit the best photo spots. Be aware that some of these photo sites may be in front of residences before you go. Please keep your volume down and tidy up after yourself. Do not enter any areas that are marked “do not enter” or private property. This will guarantee that everyone can continue to appreciate Puerto Rico’s picturesque attractions.

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico Instagrammable Places

Table of Contents

Let’s start by taking a look at the top 10 Instagrammable locations in Puerto Rico’s Old San Juan. All ten photo locations are easily accessible by foot because Old San Juan is a fairly walkable city.

The Black Puerto Rican Flag and Mural

One of the top Instagrammable locations in Old San Juan and all of Puerto Rico is this Puerto Rican Flag Mural, which is on an old abandoned building.

To demonstrate that Puerto Rico is fighting back and taking action in response to the collapse of the educational system, healthcare workforce, and other systems, the flag was painted black. There are other charming streets further down this block. Located between Calle De Sol and Calle De Sebastian on Calle De San Jose.

Fortaleza Street

Fortaleza Street

The umbrellas were taken down during protests when we were there for four days in this famous Instagrammable area in Puerto Rico.

The street is one of Puerto Rico’s most Instagrammable locations, umbrellas or not. Now that the decorations are up again. Right in front of La Fortaleza, the umbrellas are strung (the Fortress).

Address: 63 C. Fortaleza, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico.

Caleta de las Monjas

Another charming street that leads right to the beach is Caleta de las Monjas. Save a Gato, which cares for the stray cats of Old San Juan, is also close by. You will certainly encounter a tonne of kittens hanging around this location.

Caleta de las Monjas

Plazuela La Rogativa

This picturesque vantage point offers a 360-degree view of San Juan. The panorama includes El Yunque, the Fortress, the crystal-clear water, and a very intriguing sculpture from 1971. It’s certainly one of the underrated Instagrammable sites in Puerto Rico that also offers a wonderful place to view the sunset!

Address: Caleta de las Monjas, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico

Street of Calle de la Luna Cross Section Calle De San Jose

Calle de la Luna street, another incredibly photogenic colorful Old San Juan street. We were fortunate to happen upon this street. I particularly enjoy how the ancient and new parts of Old San Juan can be seen in contrast!

Plaza Del Quinto Centenario

Plaza Del Quinto Centenario

A cute little plaza created to commemorate Columbus’ first voyage. You will see a large clay monument and a splash area (which comes in useful given the extreme humidity!) El Morro Fort is also adjacent to this square.

Address: Calle del Cristo, San Juan, 00926, Puerto Rico

Castillo San Felipe del Morro El Morro Fort

One of the two forts used to defend Old San Juan from pirates and other intruders was El Morro.

The historic El Morro Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has a huge lawn, iguanas, and a lot of views of the Caribbean Sea. Not only is it one of the finest Instagrammable places, but El Morro Fort is also a must-see in general when visiting Puerto Rico!  The Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, regarded as the most beautiful cemetery in Puerto Rico, will also be visible to you in great detail.

Address: 501 Calle Norzagaray, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico

Caficultura Side Street

Right by the restaurant Caficultura, find a particularly charming street with colorful homes! I visited this street twice and found it nearly vacant both times!

The restaurant Caficultura also serves a fantastic brunch!

Hotel El Convento

Hotel El Convento is considered as one of the most Instagrammable hotels in Old San Juan. The neighboring surroundings are incredibly charming with pastel and an alley full of plants directly to the side of the hotel.

Callejón de la Puerta Bandera Painted Puerto Rican Flag Door

Painting of the Puerto Rican flag on the Callejon de la Puerta Door

Although we were unable to view it in person, Old San Juan offers another fantastic Instagrammable location. A large painted door with a Puerto Rican flag may be found here. A lot of incredibly charming alleys surround this region as well.

Address: Calle Imperial, San Juan, 00901, Puerto Rico

Instagrammable Places in El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico

The El Yunque National Forest is not only one of Puerto Rico’s most picturesque locations, but it is also the only tropical rainforest in the entire country! There are numerous vistas of a green jungle with mountains in the distance.

Waterfall at headwaters of San Juan Creek Watershed

Juan Diego Creek

Juan Diego Creek, a charming tiny waterfall with a swimmable natural pool, is where I would begin my day. There is a 30-minute time limit on parking here (although I am not sure how heavily it is enforced).

Angelito Trail

Before entering the El Yunque gate, you may find the Angelito Trail. There are many pretty cool rocks, as well as a lovely stream. It’s the ideal place to hang out in El Yunque, and the surroundings beg you to take pictures of them!

La Coca Falls

La Coca Falls is another waterfall that can be found just beyond El Yunque’s gate. We could fairly quickly scale the rocks, but be careful because everything is slick. Here, you’ll need a lens with some zoom.

Instagrammable Places in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico

Cabo Rojo, a region on Puerto Rico’s west coast, is renowned for its pink salt flats, desolate surroundings, and relaxed atmosphere.

Salinas de Cabo Rojo – Pink Salt Lakes

One of our favorite locations in Puerto Rico for photography was these Pink Salt Flats! The salt flats are quite large and are among Puerto Rico’s top Instagrammable locations. Try to arrive at the salt flats around midday when the sun is at its zenith and the water is pinker in color.

Please refrain from touching the salt mounds or water while you are there since this could harm the environment. Being polite is crucial because a lot of wildlife considers this place to be a sanctuary.

Address: PR-301, Boquerón, Cabo Rojo 00622, Puerto Rico

Faro Los Morrillos de Cabo Rojo

Faro Los Morrillos de Cabo Rojo

Another photogenic location in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, is Faro Los Morrillos, which is located on the water. Beautiful uninhabited beaches and a charming lighthouse from the 18th century are visible. The views from here are gorgeous overall!

Address: PR-301 Boquerón, Cabo Rojo 00622 Puerto Rico

Instagrammable Places in Ponce, Puerto Rico

Ponce is likewise awash with stunning architecture and vivid hues. The Villaronga House, which the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture rebuilt, is one of my favorite locations for photography.

There are also several vibrant streets and a very distinctive fire station named Parque de Bombas in the heart of Ponce. Even tours of the station are available. Throughout the city, you may be sure to find a tonne of adorable spots to take pictures of!

Address: 106 Calle Reina Isabel, Ponce, 00730, Puerto Rico

Cueva Ventana

Cueva Ventana

Cueva Ventana is another wonderful location in Puerto Rico where you may go and shoot pictures. This is a limestone cliff in the Arecibo town. Visit the window-shaped outcrop for a panoramic view of the valleys and an Instagram-worthy scene.

Puerto Rico Photo-Worthy Beaches

The beaches of Puerto Rico should not be overlooked! All of Puerto Rico’s beaches, as you can imagine, are excellent candidates for photos, but I’ve listed a few of my favorites below.

Gozalandia Falls

Cascada, which is in San Sebastián Gozalandia is a very well-known waterfall in Puerto Rico. This picturesque journey is only.6 miles long and leads to a swimming hole with a 50-foot drop.

Places to Visit During Day Time in Puerto Rico!

Catedral de San Juan Bautista

Condado Beach is the closest beach to where you are staying in San Juan if you wish to relax on the sand. For a lot of sun worshippers, that’s perfect. In addition to being the hub for water sports and beach bars, Condado is surrounded by a number of high-rise hotels and resort complexes.

Condado beach’s tide is frequently too strong for small swimmers, therefore families will occasionally forgo these sands in favor of one of the government-run beaches, or balnearios. If you understand that Condado is a beach next to a thriving metropolis rather than a secluded stretch of sand, you won’t be let down, say previous visitors. However, it is much more tourist-friendly because of its close proximity to so many hotels and resorts.

Condado Beach is accessible for free and open every day from sunrise till sunset. If you choose to drive to the beach, you’ll probably have to pay to park in a nearby garage. Additionally, beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented. Along Ashford Avenue, there are various locations where you can access the beach.

Catedral de San Juan Bautista

Castillo de San Cristóbal

Castillo San Cristóbal, a 27-acre structure, was constructed to defend Old San Juan from land invasions. Although it doesn’t get as many tourists or as much praise as its sibling fortification, El Morro, current visitors are just as in awe of the site’s grandeur and important past.

Spend several hours seeing both locations. Travelers are drawn to the expansive location by the fort’s spectacular coastal vistas (as well as the occasional iguana). Recent visitors reported that despite the fort’s propensity to draw large crowds (particularly cruise ship passengers), walking around San Cristóbal never seems crowded.

The San Juan National Historic Site, which includes El Morro and Fort San Cristóbal, commands the San Juan Harbor. Considering that you may pay a single admission charge for entry to both locations, you should make a point of stopping by San Cristóbal on the day you visit El Morro. Every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., both are open. Visitors 16 and older must pay $10 to enter; those under 15 are admitted free. For additional information, go to the official website of the National Historic Site.

Castillo de San Cristóbal

Luquillo Beach (Balneario de Luquillo)

If you get bored with the same old landscape, take a 30-mile journey east along Route 3 to Luquillo Beach from the resort beaches in Condado or Isla Verde. Families swarm to this beach because of the calm waves that are shielded by the reef, and you’ll also see a number of day-trippers who have just returned from a trip to the adjacent El Yunque National Rainforest.

Recent visitors agreed that Luquillo wasn’t congested, although they gave varying opinions on how clean it was. Some visitors complain that the beach is filthy, the sand is littered with trash, and the restrooms and changing areas are poorly cleaned up. Others claim that the beach is beautiful and one of the cleanest they have ever seen.

Parking is cheap in Luquillo, but the restrooms cost $1 more (which includes access to the changing rooms and showers). Local food vendors can be found close by at the well-known Luquillo kiosks.
