Belize, albeit relatively tiny, has a lot to offer. This Central American nation is home to a wealth of attractions, including Mayan ruins, fascinating caverns, the world’s second-largest coral reef system, and beautiful beaches. This is the best possible 7-day itinerary for Belize, designed to let you visit as much of the country as possible.

The Rainbow Belize Sign In Belize City

I’ll admit that my coworkers and I had a tough time deciding where to go on vacation this summer. Until a buddy mentioned it, we hadn’t considered taking a week to explore Belize.

After doing some further study, we were convinced that this was a fantastic nation, chock full of options for both rest and recreation and some much-needed excitement.

Let’s get right down to discussing how to make the most of your week in Belize.

7-Day Belize itinerary

Let’s get started with the ideal schedule for Belize, which includes a balance of beach days, leisure, and adventure.

Day 1: San Pedro, Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye, Belize

“Discover paradise at San Pedro’s premier hotel! Book your dream stay now and indulge in the ultimate Ambergris Caye experience. Limited availability – Reserve your slice of paradise today!

Your seven-day vacation in Belize should begin with a flight into Belize City. From there, you should take a flight to Ambergris Caye, the largest island in the country, and San Pedro, the sole city on the island.

If you want to save money, you can take a water taxi for an hour and a half instead. This is the most developed of the Belizean cayes, and as a result, it is home to a number of luxurious resorts, in addition to offering a wide variety of activities. On the first day, get a golf cart and drive around the entire island.

Golf carts, which are also a lot of fun, will be your best option for moving around while you are in Belize, since they are the most convenient method.

Day 2: Belize Diving and Snorkeling

If you are going to be in Belize for a week, it is quite probable that you will want to do scuba diving or snorkelling at the barrier reef and other well-known marine regions while you are there.

Find a reputable tour company to hire for a day trip that incorporates fishing techniques that are less harmful to the environment. This is critical because protecting the reef is absolutely essential if we want to continue to enjoy the reef’s breathtaking beauty in the years to come.

Although the Great Barrier Reef in Australia is the second biggest reef in the world, a significant portion of it has already perished as a direct result of interference from human activity. Due to the fact that not all tour companies are created equal, it is essential to do your research.

Scuba Diving

“Discover the wonders beneath the waves in Belize! Dive into adventure or snorkel amidst vibrant coral reefs. Experience the thrill of Belize’s aquatic paradise today!

During these tours, you will go on a boat and travel to popular marine destinations such as the Belize Barrier Reef, Hol Chan Marine Park, and Shark Ray Alley to scuba dive or snorkel. It will take you longer than two hours to get there, and if you want to go scuba diving in the blue hole, the circumstances might be challenging.

The finest view of the blue hole is obtained by looking down from above. Maya Island Air and Tropic Air both provide trips that allow passengers to fly above the blue hole for around $200 US Dollars apiece.

Day 3: Caye Caulker Day Tour

I would not consider any tour of Belize to be the “ideal itinerary” if it did not include a stop at Caye Caulker, which is my favourite of the country’s many teeny islands. The island of Caye Caulker has adopted the motto “go lightly,” and a water taxi journey from San Pedro will take you there in half an hour.

This is a little island that is full of life and has a distinct bohemian and backpacker atmosphere. It takes around one to two hours to walk the full length of the island, although it only takes approximately five minutes to walk the island’s breadth the majority of the way. There are no vehicles on this island, walking, using golf carts, or riding bicycles are the most effective methods to get about.

What makes Caye Caulker so famous is a natural feature known as “The Split,” which was created after a hurricane in 1961 tore the island in half. The majority of people who live on the island or who visit it will choose to unwind, have a drink, and dine at one of the adorable, teeny-tiny beach bars that are located along The Split.

Day 4: Coastal Jungles of The Mainland

Jungles of the Mainland

“Embark on an unforgettable adventure in the Coastal Jungles of The Mainland. Join us now and immerse yourself in breathtaking nature and thrilling experiences!”

During their one week in Belize, many tourists will likely make a detour to the city of San Ignacio, which is located in the Cayo District of the mainland.

San Ignacio is located so much further inland, I decided to travel straight to Hopkins instead of stopping there so that I could continue to enjoy the beautiful coastline. Hopkins is preferred to other beach towns since it is both coastal and yet surrounded by jungle, providing access to both the beach and the rainforest from the same spot.

This makes Hopkins the ideal place to stay if you want to experience both. It is a more distant spot when compared to more well-known coastal settlements in Belize, such as Placentia, but the fact that it is bordered by both the ocean and the jungle is stunning and gives even more great opportunities for incredible adventures.

The presence of a sizeable Garifuna community in Hopkins, which provides visitors with a new perspective and experience throughout their time in Belize, also contributes to the town’s status as a distinctive cultural zone. To go from San Pedro to Hopkins Bay, you will need to take two brief flights; the first trip will take you back to Belize City, and the second flight will take you to Dangriga Airport, which is only a 45-minute drive away.

Day 5: Explore Actun Tunichil Muknal

You may plan a tour to explore Actun Tunichil Muknal, also known as the ATM caves, which is widely considered to be one of the most popular places in all of Belize, through the establishment in which you are staying.

ATM Caves

“Embark on an unforgettable adventure in Actun Tunichil Muknal! Book now and uncover the ancient mysteries hidden within the mystical cave.”

In order to reach the caverns, which are not for the faint of heart and require you to channel your inner Indiana Jones, you will have to travel through the jungles, cross rivers, and swim through pools. Once you reach the caverns, you will have to continue your journey into the pitch-black interior over and beneath stones.

In the caves, in addition to other artefacts from the time of the pre-Columbian Mayans, you will be able to witness a whole human skeleton that was used in a sacrifice. This skeleton is known as the Crystal Maiden.

According to National Geographic, ATM is one of the Top 10 Sacred Caves in the World. If you are looking for something that will challenge you, this is absolutely something that you should look into doing.

Day 6: Mayan Civilization at Tikal National Park

Spend a whole day seeing the Tikal ruins, which can be found in Guatemala about an hour and a half away from the border of Belize.

Tikal, an ancient Maya city, is another major tourist site in Belize and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tikal dates back to the time of the Maya civilization. Tikal is home to several sacred ceremonial sites, the remnants of which may be explored in the form of temples, palaces, and other architectural marvels.

Tikal Ruins

“Unearth the wonders of the Mayan Civilization at Tikal National Park. Embark on an unforgettable journey. Join us today!

Tikal National Park is home to a wide range of ecosystems, including forests, marshes, and savannahs, and holds the distinction of being one of the few places on the planet that is recognized as a World Heritage Site for both its ecological and cultural value. Tikal, one of the most important Maya archaeological sites, provides visitors interested in history as well as those interested in nature with a one-of-a-kind opportunity for hands-on research.

Day 7: Bye Bye Belize

You’ve made it to the final day of your vacation to Belize, and it’s very possible that the time there went by very quickly.

Before you leave this beautiful country, be sure to take in one last day of sunlight, one last swim in the soothing waters of the Caribbean Sea, one last rum punch, one last fried jack, and one last moment to say goodbye to your newfound friends.

Don’t forget to bring along your camera since you’ll want to capture as many memories as possible on your vacation.
