The Bahamas is located in the Atlantic Ocean and one of the best features about the area is that it has 700 tropical islands! Sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it? What is more shocking is that only 30 of them are inhabited by people.

One of the largest islands is the New Providence which is situated in Nassau, the capital city, and is home to about 70% of the country’s population. When it comes to the habitats that exist in the Bahamas, which include turtles, iguanas, parrots, as well as the largest colony of pink flamingos!

The temperature here rarely ever drops below 15ºC! The warm water which surrounds the island has color fish, including the blue tang as well as the stoplight parrotfish. Andros island features the 225km long Andros Barrier Reef, which is known as the longest coral reef in the entire world!

Bahamas Week 1 Itinerary

Day 1: Nassau

The plan is to arrive early in Nassau and drop your bags at the hotel and get a little fresh. Next, you will be exploring downtown Nassau in the morning by foot and will visit the National Art Gallery, the famous Straw Market, as well as the Gray Cigar Factory. 

These are some of the stops you do not want to miss out on during your visit. Now, you can either get a taxi or rent a scooter to move towards the west. Here you can grab a drink and have lunch wherever you like. One of the most famous places in the area would be the Dino’s Gourmet Conch Salad stand.

Next, you can go to the Clifton Heritage National Park, where you will be able to learn about the history. Nassau looks small on the map however, the island is packed with 19+ beaches which is why you must visit some of these. All of them have stunning white sand as well as crisp blue waters.

You can either visit Cabbage Beach, Love Beach, or Cove Beach, as these are really beautiful. However, if you’re looking for something less touristy, then you can visit Aqua Beach. Go beach hopping here during the day and explore different beaches! You can even grab some food and have a picnic on the beaches.

Day 2 & 3: Exuma

You are going to be spending your Day 2 and 3 at Exuma, where you are going to have an adventurous time. You will be going to the private Island called the Ship Channel Cay, which is near the top of the Exuma Cays.

You’re going to have a fabulous time over here by feeding iguanas and stingrays as well as watching sharks feeding the people snorkeling in the water. Here you will book a private cottage for a night on this wonderful island. After breakfast the next morning, you are going to go to the side of the island and sunbathe in complete privacy. 

You will have lunch along with an open bar. To have more fun, you can even charter a yacht which is going to help you navigate the wonderful island and have a look at all the attractions. The area is going to offer you a break from our fast-paced lives since it is very peaceful here. The island is really pretty and packed with loads of fun activities for people to enjoy. 

Once done, you will be heading back to Nassau in the afternoon with the others. Here you are going to enjoy at the Atlantic or Baha Mar casino and try your luck! You will be spending another night over here.

Day 3 & 4: Great Bahama

You will be flying to the Great Bahama and will spend two nights over here. Once you reach, you will keep your stuff at the hotel and go to the UNEXO, where you are going to spend a wholesome time swimming with the dolphins in their natural open ocean habitat. 

Once done, you will be heading back to the land and will go to the Port Lucaya Marketplace, where you are going to do some shopping. Moreover, you will also be able to enjoy live music here and have food at any famous restaurant nearby, such as the Count Basie Square.

Now, you are going to head back to the hotel and call it a night. The next morning, you will be renting a car and will go to the Lucayan National Park. Here you will have the chance to explore the beautiful caves and explore the wonderful streets of the area along with enjoying the Gold Rock Beach.

You will have loads of fun over here by walking over the rippled sand and the tide pools. You will also be able to enjoy the Smith’s Point Fish Fry, which is an event that should not be missed at all! You are going to enjoy traditional cuisine here with fried snapper, lobster, conch salad, potato bread, along with many other dishes.

Have a fun chit-chat session with others while enjoying Bahamian music and having delicious food.

Day 5: Treasure Cay, Abaco

The next day, you are going to catch the Pinder’s Ferry from McCleans Town at 9:00 AM. You will be heading to the Crown Haven at the northern tip of Abaco. 

The Great Abaco Express charter bus will take you on a 45-min long drive into the Treasure Cay where you are going to spend a night. You will keep your stuff at the hotel and get a little fresh. Next, you are going to go to the world-famous pink sand beach where you are going to have a wonderful time.

There are loads of activities going on over here for you to enjoy.

Day 6 & 7: Green Turtle Cay, Abaco

To complete your work, you will be heading towards the Green Turtle Cay where you are going to have an unforgettable time. Here you are going to have some really tasty cinnamon buns as well as other desserts from the Cafe La Florence, which is near the marina. 

Next, you will be catching the ferry in order to move towards the Green Turtle Cay which is quite near. Here you will be spending the night. Once you have reached, you are going to head out for a snorkel day trip with the Brendals. Here you might encounter wild dolphins!

After spending some time, you are going to go back to the hotel and have a good sleep. Next morning, you will be going to New Plymouth by golf cart and learning more about Bahamian history. You will also stop at Miss Emil’s Blue Bee Bar in order to have the famous Bahamas drink, Goombay Smash.

Once you have had a great time, you will catch the last ferry at 4:30 pm and move back to Treasure Cay. Here you are going to take a taxi and go to Marsh Harbor to spend the night.

The Bahamas Week 2 Itinerary

Day 8 & 9: Hope Town

Now you will be renting a small speedboat and will go to the Elbow Cay where you are going to visit the lighthouse. 

Trust us, you do not want to skip visiting the lighthouse since the views from here are just wonderful! Next, you will cruise on over to Hope Town in order to explore the town on foot. Yeah, you heard that right! You will be walking by foot here there is no need to hire a taxi or anything since that way you will not be able to enjoy to your fullest.

You will enjoy the breathtaking sunset and have dinner at Firefly, one of the best restaurants in the town. All tourists make sure to visit the area during their stay. You can also go to the bike shop and rent bikes to explore the town. The rates here are really reasonable and you will be able to enjoy a lot!

If you are in need of some peaceful time, you can also go to the Byrle Patterson Memorial Garden, which has a lovely view. Take a walk down there and just relax. Once done, it is time to head back to the hotel and have a good sleep. 

The next morning you are going to head back out in your boat to Tahiti Beach, where you will be having lunch at Lubbers Landing, which is situated in Lubbers Quarters. Here you will hang out with others on the beach or at the bar, it is completely up to you. Here you are also going to enjoy the evening bonfire and spend your night in a private cottage.

The area is full of fun, filled with incredible activities for tourists to enjoy. You will not be bored at all and will have a really good sleep after a tiring day.

Day 10 & 11: Man O’ War and Guana Cay

You will be heading out to Man O’ War Cay in order to watch men make traditional wooden boats. The process looks really interesting and you will definitely have fun watching it. 

Here you will move to Marsh Harbor in order to check into a hotel and spend the night. Man O’ War is the perfect place to spend time with your family. It is completely safe and secure and has a comfortable as well as relaxing environment.

Everyone over here is going to make you feel at home. It is the best place for kids as there are no bars here which means there are not a lot of drunk people here. You will also visit the Gospel Chapel, which is a great church. Next, you will go to Joe’s Place in order to purchase nice gifts to take back home.

There are other great shops to visit as well, such as Andy Albury’s woodwork and Sally’s seaside boutique. You will be able to find great bags from here which are made from sail canvas. The next day you will first visit the MOW museum, where you will get a chance to explore a lot of things.

Once done, you will have lunch at Nippers on Guana Cay. Remember, there is a huge crowd here and Sundays are just jam-packed with people. You will be able to have a lot of fun here due to the pool, enjoying that bar as well as the beach. Here you will be able to visit great cafes as well as shops for shopping.

Have a drink here and simply relax while looking at the wonderful scenery. You are definitely going to love each and everything over here.

Day 12 & 13: Schooner Bay

The next day, you will be renting a car and will drive south to Schooner Bay which is another famous island in the Bahamas. You are going to book a room in advance at the upscale bonefishing lodge in the area so that you are able to enjoy bonefishing on the incredible, world-famous marks.

After having dinner, you will be heading out to explore the area a little. You will be visiting different shops here and will enjoy your time at a bar and have a couple of drinks with the others. Get to know the locals over here and have a good conversation with them. Go back to the lodge and have a nice sleep. 

The next day, have lunch at the nearby cafe and explore the city and its beauty. Visit different famous monuments that come your way and buy souvenirs from local shops. The handmade stuff you get from here is something you actually do not want to miss out on.

Once done, have dinner and walk to the observation deck for a beautiful night of stargazing. This is something you are definitely going to enjoy. Have fun with your kids or your partner and spend a wholesome time together.

Day 14: Southern Abaco

Next morning, you will head into the Abaco National Park, which is situated at the southernmost tip of the island. Here you will get a chance to explore caves and old, abandoned plantation buildings.

A tour guide will tell you more about the history of these caves. Moreover, you will climb to the top of the lighthouse, and here you are going to have a picnic on the beach. Once you have a good time, you will be driving back to Marsh Harbor and will fly back home.
